Rivermont Senior Andrea Porubcin spent four years collecting 1104 pairs of glasses and contact lenses for the Davenport Lion’s Club. The Club has been involved with “Sight Conservation” since Helen Keller challenged them to “Become Knights of the Blind” in 1925.
Andrea’s dedication exemplifies the spirit of service and community engagement that the School promotes. Her efforts are a shining example of how individuals can make a meaningful difference in their communities by contributing to causes that improve the lives of others. Her generosity and commitment to “Sight Conservation” will likely have a lasting impact on the individuals who will benefit from the donated eyewear and the Lions Club’s ongoing efforts to prevent blindness and promote eye health.
Collin Lawrence, Rivermont’s Assistant Head of School, accompanied Andrea to a Davenport Lions Club Meeting to deliver the items. They are pictured here with Dr. Carla Courtney, the optometrist who oversees the program.
