The Yogev Shetrit Trio “Way of Tradition”

June 18th, POLYRHYTHMS Third Sunday Jazz Workshop & Matinee Series presents the internationally acclaimed Yogev Shetrit Trio’s “Way of Tradition” with its rich Andalusian Jazz feel. The Trio will present a jazz demystifying workshop from 2–3 pm, and in concert, from 5–7 pm, in Becherer Hall, at Rivermont Collegiate, located at 1821 Sunset Drive in Bettendorf, Iowa.

The Yogev Shetrit Trio features Moshe Elmakias – Piano, Noam Tanzer – Bass, and Yogev Shetrit – Drums & Composition.

Shetrit, an international composer and drummer, earned his BA in Musicology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He later studied at the Drummer’s Collective in NYC (2005) and received a full scholarship for studies at the Rimon school of Jazz and contemporary music (2006-7). He has been a music educator for more than 25 years and plays at large worldwide projects on a regular basis.

Shetrit was the founder and member of the famous worldwide Coolooloosh band. His craftsmanship and success afforded him the opportunity to perform with notable artists, including Chuchito Valdez, Tia Fuller, Arnie Lawrence, Paulo Morello, & Kevin Mahogany.

A composer at heart, Shetrit created his trio in 2016 in order to play his original compositions. As a bandleader and composer, he recorded his first studio album, “New Path”.

Since then, the Yogev Shetrit Trio has performed in over 30 countries at some of the largest festivals & venues worldwide, including the international Panama Jazz Festival and The Kennedy Center, Washington, DC.

Additionally, Shetrit has released two studio albums and one Live album, and is currently working on his 3rd studio album that will be released in 2023.

Shetrit’s music contains original compositions that elegantly fuse traditional North African music, Gnawa, Andalusian music from his Moroccan heritage, along with contemporary Jazz and Mediterranean music. www.yogevshetrit.com
